Facilitating Participatory Research with Disabled Collaborators
This interactive session explores how participatory research can be implemented in inclusive and meaningful ways, with a focus on working alongside disabled collaborators. Drawing on the speaker’s research and experience, it introduces key principles of participatory approaches and common challenges, including the distinction between genuine participation and tokenism. Participants will engage in discussion and scenario-based activities before taking part in a guided CoNavigator exercise, a tool designed to support accessible and equitable collaboration. The session emphasises practical strategies for embedding participation throughout the research process.
